The term descaler can refer to a few different products. Since you mentioned using distilled water, you generally won’t need to use a descaler in your Adagio water feature — distilled water prevents hard-water buildup.
If you purchased a countertop water distiller from us, those units do include a descaler, which is simply citric acid. You can also purchase citric acid locally; a common brand is Lemi Shine, found in most grocery stores in the dishwasher section.
To clean your distiller, fill it to the maximum line with water, add about a teaspoon of Lemi Shine, and run the distiller with the lid off for about 5 minutes to dissolve mineral residue.
For your water feature, we do not recommend using a descaler. If you ever notice buildup on the water surface or other areas, a 50/50 mix of distilled water and white vinegar works best. Spray the mixture on the affected area, let it soak for a few minutes, then wipe with a soft cloth. You may need to repeat this process for heavier buildup.
By continuing to use distilled water, you should be able to maintain a clean, clear water feature without the need for chemical descalers.
